June brings the South West Better Beef Conference to Hamilton for the first time.

Hosted by Agriculture Victoria in partnership with Glenelg Hopkins CMA, the one day conference is themed "Capitalising on the Good Times" covering topics that focus on increasing profitability of beef enterprises.

The conference will explore current challenges and latest research and development, providing practical information that can be applied on-farm.

Speakers include North Queensland cattle farmer and Meat and Livestock Australia Climate Champion Peter Whip. Peter will tell his story of successfully adapting the farm business to overcome drought and floods on their 15,000 hectare family beef property near Longreach. His philosophy centres around partnering with the environment so that "sustainable businesses equal healthy landscapes".

Other speakers on the day include Damon Holmes (Meat and Livestock Australia), Bill Malcolm (The University of Melbourne), David Webb-Ware (Producer), Mike Stevens (Meridian Agriculture) and more.

Topics for the day including beef market situation and outlook, seasonal outlooks, beef research outcomes, setting directions, market access, value chain and producer case studies.

The event is being held at the Hamilton Agriculture Victoria office on 915 Mount Napier Road Hamilton, starting at 8.00am, with tickets to be pre-purchased online at https://southwestbbconference.eventbrite.com.au
